So we come to the end of the final round of the home and away and what a series we have had.

ALSO: Even if you are not playing finals, I STILL WANT YOUR TIPS EVERY WEEK over the next 4 weeks,as there are all these side competitions still in play.
So please stick around!

The weekend games finished as:

1(+) Hawthorn - Richmond (-)5371Richmon-18
2(+) Collingwood - Melbourne (-)5491Melbour-37
3(+) Sydney/SMFC - Adelaide (-)11765Sydney/52
4(+) Carlton - North Melbourne (-)54118North M-64
5(+) Fremantle - GWS (-)8463Fremant21
Given the stakes this round (finals chances, minor premierships and relegation) the first two games were 'out of the box'. Only 1 tipped Richmond and three tipped Melbourne.
Relegation battling Wal got both, and his D1 relegation threatened compatriot Amul also tipped Melbourne, In D2, Kev was the third Dees tipper, and also fighting the drop!

So to the match-up results... but this week, done a little differently.

Div 1:

@MarkDuffett3-1@Amul82
@BarassiLine3-3@TheHolyBoot
@Wal13Freo4-1@MattSlutzkin
@A_OKeefe3-0@Clinton_V8
@SgtButane1-2@Footy_Maths
Minor Premiership: Clinton gets defeated by A_OK so doesnt win the minor premiership. A_OK could also have won the title if the Boot lost, but a 3 - 3 draw sees him win it.
The tightest contest in FMITL history as three players tie on 44 points, with Boots +11 SD securing the silverware. Massive effort by last years Spooner A_OK too, finishing with 10 wins in 2nd.

Finals: FMI needed to win and he did so by the barest. Mark defeated Amul to secure the belt and his finals slot, but Matt went down to Wal and misses the finals by SD.

Relegation: Mark beating Amul was enough to see Wal escape the foot of the table and head to a round 23 play-off to retain his spot in Div 1.

@SJHRoss4-0@TheTipsGuru
@AndrewGigacz1-2@LaurenceRosen
@J_Foreigner2-2@Kevs_View
Minor Premiership: The minor premiership came down to a direct head-to-head between Carlo and Ethan. Carlo's loss drops him to 4th and no double chance. With Ethan scoring 2-1, its his premiership for 2015. Sean gave it a real shake winning 4-0, but needed Ethan to lose. Still, second is a good return.

Finals: Gigs needed a miracle to get into the top 5, but this 'aint Hollywood, and it didnt happen. Secure top 5 remains so.

Relegation: Kev needed a win to put Super in the Auto relegation spot, but could only draw 2-2. The Demonblog-led Super team still lost (and surely management will return to Super after this performance) and fights on to a round 23 play-off.

Kevs draw also complicates things, as he retains the belt. Will take submissions on how to handle a belt going down a division.

Div 3:

@RudiEdsall2-1@Ichymochek
@ASpeedingCar 2-1@ArmchairFooty
@MatterOfStats1-3@Andrewm_81
@Go_Saintz32-1@AFLTheory
@SmokieDawson1-2@DemP_9
@Swishtter1-1@Hcdc93
The most complicated of the three divisions this final round.
Minor Premiership: Was already locked away to Smokie, and just for shits and giggles, he drops one at the death, giving Dem a much needed win.

Finals: 7th placed Dem's win helped his finals chances, and losses to the Theorist and a draw to Henry was the ticket for Dem to leap into 5th and claim the last spot.
AndyM knocks off MoS to claim a double chance slot, while MoS misses out. AndyM also claims the belt in doing so!

Relegation: With this division holding 12, it must be trimmed to 10 for 2016, so its 11th and 12th down automatically.
With that: Henry's draw keeps him up. Swish on the other side of that draw stays up, just, in 10th.
In the one true head to head for relegation match, Rudi defeats Ichymochek to stay up, and send Ichy down on 28 points in 11th.
The Go_S win over the Theorist keeps him up, and Armo's narrow loss to the Car sends Armo down as last placed in the Division as well.

Don't feel too bad guys... it was a really hard fought contest by one and all.

ALSO: Ichy the seasons 'DrawKing' with a big 8 D's, breaking J_F's record last year of 7!

Jul 27:

All the blogging over the last few weeks has been on the finals prospects and also relegation battles. In particular about the Div 1 and 2 teams who were possibly going down in 9th and 10th place.

But it was recently brought to my attention that 9th place does not automatically go down. It is listed in the rules page that 9th plays off for retention to its division against the lower division Grand Final Runner Up.

So I have amended the little red mark for 9th on all the charts, and those of you battling to avoid the drop can breathe a little easier.

(PS...sack @FMIChamps for forgetting his own rules.)

Now to the big season defining round. Your match-ups are:
ROUND: 18

@Wal13Freo-@MattSlutzkin@SJHRoss-@TheTipsGuru
@A_OKeefe-@Clinton_V8@AndrewGigacz-@LaurenceRosen
@SgtButane-@Footy_Maths@J_Foreigner-@Kevs_View
Minor Premiership: Clinton needs to win. If he draws/loses and Boot wins, its Boots title. A_OK could also win if Boot loses and he beats Clinton by 2.
Finals: FMI winning and Mark or Matt losing brings change. Draws by incumbents = no change.
Relegation: Wal is gone unless he wins and Amul loses. Amul wins for him and loss for the Sarge sees them swap.
Big Influence Games: Mark v Amul, Sarge v FMI, Wal v Mark

Minor Premiership: EThan needs to win to be sure. He can draw and still win if Carlo doesnt win. If Ethan loses, and Carlo draws/loses, a win by Sean, Lucas or the Guru could win the title.
Finals: Basically a secure top 5. Would need a calamitous result from Sean, the Guru or Lucas AND a huge win by Gigs to change anything.
Relegation: A win by Kev and loss by Super, plus a big change in points could see Super down and Kev in the play-off spot. Also if Laurence loses and Super wins, its Laurence to the repechage.
Big Influence Games: All of them., but Carlo v Ethan top of the table fight, and Sean v Guru fight for double chance.

ROUND: 18

Minor Premiership: Stitched up. Smokie smiling.
Finals: The Theorist vulnerable, but needs a big loss by him and a big win to Henry to change. MoS playing AndyM for the double chance.
Relegation: From Henry down, all players are in the frame for Relegation. Div 3 has no relegation play-off. Last 2 go down, period.
Big Influence Games: Lots of games for relegation stakes, key being Rudi v Ichymo, Also MoS v AndyM for 2x chance.

Division 4 plays in for a few more weeks before finals kick in.
