2016 CHANGES

For the new season, there have been changes and additions to the competition for 2016.

As mentioned before, we have seven new players which brings the total playing list to 42, and stretches them out into 4 divisions, as below.

Also as per the last post, we lost both D1's @BarassiLine through voluntary retirement, and D3's @Go_Saintz3 who failed to respond to the confirmation of re-contesting the competition messages sent out. @Go_Saintz3 is considered 'in recess' and eligible to return in 2017.

With two players leaving, the proposed promotions and relegations post-2015 season alter.

Originally we proposed the bottom two from D3 were to be cut and move to D4, with no promotion from D4 as it was only a half season competition. The two vacancies created mean the two who were to be cut now remain in D3.
The other vacancies up the line are similarly filled by the non-relegation approach.

Of course, the promotions from D2 and D3 all remain as earned. So moving up are Ethan and Smokie.
The rules page has been modified to codify this practice, which also follows that employed after 2014.

Further to the list above, we have a name change in the roster, with JoshCPinn as the renamed ArmchairFooty.

Also note that 3 divisions will play home/away twice, while Div 4 will be unbalanced in that regard, but them's the breaks.

The new roster of 42 players makes for a new system for the BarassiLine Knockout Cup. 42 doesn't  neatly go into a round of 32 so well, so this season the system will be:
- The two finalists from last years Cup are automatically moved to the round of 32.
-All other 40 players play a preliminary round, with the 20 winners moving to the round of 32 (making a running total there of 22).
- The 20 players defeated in the preliminary round will play a repechage round. The 10 winners will move to the round of 32 to fill all spots.
The competition will then continue as normal.
All the detail on this is in the 'Season & Cup' page.

The Cup will commence in Round 3, and I will draw matches and opponents soon.

We will also look to bring back the FMITL Lightning Premiership starting in Round 19. This is for all non-finalists to keep going into the last weeks of the season and also a testing ground for new entrants for 2017 (if we absorb more followers).
